One to One with a Nazareth Nun

When we read the Gospels, we hear of the good that Jesus did for all the persons with whom He daily came in contact. To follow Jesus means to do as He did...heal the sick, make the blind see, forgive sins. Usually, we think of Gospel actions as performing miracles. Most of us probably dream of having opportunities to do something great for others. Although we may never find a cure for cancer, make a paralyzed person walk, or save a child from a burning building, we each have an opportunity to show compassion, understanding and sensitivity to those we meet -- living the Gospel by being neighbors to each other.

There are numerous ways we can brighten another’s life by loving it as though it were our own. Human kindness is redemptive. As Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, we would like to invite you to participate in the program -- One-to-One with a Nazareth Nun -- which invites you to become involved with an individual Sister personally in a one year commitment (renewable each year).

On the Sister’s part, she will promise to remember you on a daily basis in prayer and send cards for special occasions. There will be a social gathering held once a year for participants to meet their Sister.

This interaction is just another way that all of us can realize the importance that family matters, especially in the spirit of the Gospels. "Let us love one another."

The rewards of the program are endless as friendships are made, prayer intentions are requested, and both the sisters and the sponsors know that each has found a special person in the Lord. The following words convey this message:

...We believe your prayers have answered ours for complete recovery for my husband of colon cancer.

...Your prayerful support is a blessed event in our lives. I feel such relief knowing I can always call upon you for help.
